The Live Your Dreams foundation is committed to helping aspiring artists & musicians take the next step in their creative journey. It has been started to assist developing SA artists realize their dreams and get their talent the recognition it deserves. Recipients of funding are not required to pay back the assistance they receive, but rather are asked to 'pay it forward' to other developing artists as their careers continue to develop and succeed.
Aim of the Foundation...
On June 17th I got to perform at a youth day celebration in Colorado Park, Mitchells Plain. The day was in aid of the Colville Youth Group, and they too were dedicating the event to having their community stand up and say “NO” to drugs & alcohol. Drugs are a debilitating problem in the poorer areas in South Africa , and entire communities are at risk of collapsing under the pressure from drug dealers & gangs.
It was wonderful to be included in yet another celebration of the youth & to have the opportunity to share my songs with their community. I arrived with my guitarist Gorm, and we were whisked off to the back of the hall where the children taking part were waiting for us. They wanted to learn to sing the chorus to “Shine” so they could join me on stage. It was the cutest thing teaching it to them, and they picked it up really quickly!
On June 16 I got to celebrate my first ever youth day with the people who really know what youth day is about. I headed into Atlantis (a coloured township outside of Cape Town) with a documentary team who are filming a piece on abuse called “Our Own Stories, Our Own Voices”. I am going to be working with the director Lungiswa Sithole, producer Yvonne Hart & four teenage girls who are survivors of abusive situations. I will be helping them to write a song that will share their story & inspire other teens to see hope where they may feel there is none...
The day after my birthday I headed up to Karatara again with some friends to visit the Eden Campus again. I was very excited, because accompanying me on the trip was Oren, from LA, who was going to film the students to be part of his movie about people making their dreams come true; Donna, my new manager, to give the students a guru lecture on marketing & Jan, a Swiss photographer, to capture the students on film and turn his pictures into an amazing moving image piece!
The other day I met some friends for a quick coffee, and one of them had bought me a Kinder Surprise chocolate egg. I have often seen them in the stores, but have never actually tried one.
When I opened
it up I found a plastic character in a few separate pieces that I needed to
assemble. It struck me that in essence a Kinder Surprise is just a fancy and
rather tasty chocolate

Anyway,
I was well pleased with my little prize and started putting him together. I was
completely delighted to discover that once assembled he was none other than the
‘songwriter’ of the series. Synchronicity or what?
As you can see he is the cutest little guy & I took him to be
a little bit of confirmation from the universe about my chosen path!

On the 16th of May I celebrated my birthday and the 11 year anniversary of writing my first song! To mark the occasion I went back to where it all began - Noordhoek Beach, Cape Town.
The wind was wild but so exhilarating! It felt amazing to be back in the parking lot where 11 years ago I went to contemplate my life and where it was going, and out of nowhere I felt
compelled to put pen to paper. I will never forget looking down at what I had written & just knowing it was lyrics to a song.
That moment changed my life forever, and it truly is the best birthday gift I have ever been given. I am thankful that I found the courage to share it & dare to live this dream.
11 years on I can celebrate having performed in SA, USA & Seychelles. Being playlisted on SA radio stations. Having played with unbelievable musicians. Having sold out shows with awesome fans!Being involved in causes I believe in & helping to make a difference. Daring to start the Lucky Packet Project & having sold over 600 copies of an album that doesn't exist in 16 countries.
YAY is all I can say for that wonderful day when it all started 11 years ago!!!

A few weeks ago my sister asked me to fill in for a few hours at her casting studio. I needed some 
extra cash so agreed to help out. I kept thinking to myself ‘why am I here, I am losing precious time when I could be focusing on Lucky Packet’…
