In the twelve years that I have been writing songs, and in the five years since I plucked up the courage to give up my day job and see if I could make a career from my songs and voice, I have come across some incredible musicians, producers and mentors. Every person I have crossed paths with has coloured my experience in different ways and who I am today as a musician is the result of all of them.
When I put out to my Future Owners a few weeks ago to vote for which of my songs I should record, I handed over the fate of this album to the people who have helped me
to create it. Amazingly, the twelve songs that were voted in manage to span my entire history of song writing as well as the various people who have walked this journey with me.
The album will have Wherever Love Goes & Perfect produced by Theo Crous in 2004, a version of Raise based on Bruce Muzik's demo he did with me back in 2001, a version of Don't Look Back that Tom Fox did for me in 2003 along with the rest of the album being produced by Paul McIver and Brian O'Shea. Theo's singles
feature some of my favourite musicians from my gigs - Gorm Helfjord, Rob Nel, Mike Horne, Clive Pringle and Dominic Peters - and I am so glad to have them making it onto the album along with my current band members Tony Paco, Helder Gonzaga and Nelson Malela.
From Wherever Love Goes written in August 1996 to Afraid written in August 2007, every song reflects almost everyone I have worked and every defining moment in my life - all of which has added infinitely to who I am. I can't wait to hear it when it is all done!
