Very grateful

I have spent the afternoon sorting through all the pics I have been sent from Future Owners around the world holding their copy of "Journey". What a way to get incredibly grateful for how many friends and fans have made this album possible! As my first single continues to do really well on national radio and CD sales are climbing, I am ever reminded that all of this happened because 2000 people believed in me and said "YES" to my dream. I am only here because of them so here is an album to celebrate the people behind the success of "Journey". Thank you for believing I would do it, trusting I would finish and continuing to keep the dream alive everytime you listen to the songs that you chose. You guys rock!!!

Memory lane...

On Monday 16th Feb I got to retrace my childhood when I was asked to go and talk to the students at my old school - Michael Oak in Kenilworth. It was amazing to arrive back at the place where so much of who I am was defined and to see how much it has changed in the time since I left. In essence I could stand and truly experience my own growth reflected in the mirror of the old school transformed into something I could hardly recognise. I guess going back is always a great way to see how far you've come & inspire you to see how much further you want to go.

Here's the thank-you they sent me - truth is I want to thank them!

Hi Verity

Your presentation this morning was a delight and really inspiring for both the children and the the adults. 

The story resonnated in us all and I know that it was has given courage and strengthed wings. I think the children identified very strongly with you. Your singing, to round it off,  was an absolute treat and you have certianly gained some fans.We look forward very much to the next time.

My thoughts on the Twestival...

Online communities are essentially transcending the borders and boundaries of politics, religion, culture and class. We connect on the level of what is important to us and not just where we come from. It gives us the opportunity to change the world from our PC, simply by starting a conversation and then seeing where it leads us. Right now thousands of people around the world are gathered because of a online conversation that is resulting in making a massive difference for people who possibly will never have the luxury of even seeing a computer. We are discovering that our voices can be raised in 140 characters loud enough to raise $1mil & prove that we can indeed become stronger than any formal organisation or government. Social media is truly giving the power back to the people – this is where we speak our truth, this is where we feel heard and this is where we get to show what we are capable to achieving when we lean on the power of the communities we create online.

MC for The Cape Town 'TWESTIVAL' tomor night!!!

I am thrilled to have been asked to MC and perform at the Cape Town "Twestival" tomorrow night at Doppio Zero in Mandela Rhodes Place!

On Thursday, 12 February 2009, for 24 hours, more than 180 cities around the world will be hosting "Twestivals" - volunteer-run fundraising meet-ups for people who know each other through the micro-blogging service twitter.com - to bring Twitter communities together in the spirit of fun and for a good cause to tweet.meet.give. The global event, described as "a ‘tweet-up’ with a social conscience," will be raising money to support charity: water, a not-for-profit bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

The Cape Town Twestival has been embraced by the signature Mandela Rhodes Place, a prestigious venue located in the cultural quarter of the city bowl. Doppio Zero restaurant located in Mandela Rhodes Place will be the meeting place for all ‘Cape Town Twitters’. Tickets are available via Cape Town’s official twestival page, and all proceeds will go directly to the charity mentioned.  There are also ‘ghost tickets’ for sale if Capetonians are out of town or cannot attend, but would like to donate towards the cause.  Buy a ticket online before the event to assist with planning.

Tickets cost R100 and all the proceeds to to the charity! Doors open from 5pm and it promises to be a wonderful evening with music from yours truly & Sylvester Kabassidi and maestro magician Marcel! Hope to see fellow social media friends there!
