I believe...

I believe that it is time for us to hear the artists who continue to reach deep into their souls & guts and pour their truth out into song. That it is time to celebrate true talent instead of perpetuating crafty marketing plans to roll out one hit wonders in gold hot-pants. That the world needs voices that will wake up the youth to the challenges we face and move away from the relentless focus on 'getting it on' and flashing your bling. I believe it is time for change. I believe the answers are blowing in the wind. I believe the times they are a-changing!

MNET's Young Stars...

On Sat 4 Sept I had the priviledge of MC'ing the MNET Young Stars talent search in Cape Town at Canal Walk.

I was one of the priliminary judges for the audition phase so felt really invested in seeing who would go through. All the kids were amazing and I managed to spend an afternoon a few weeks back with all the singing entrants helping them with performance and mic techniques. It was amazing to see them all show up ready to do their thing for the judges and audience.

DJ legend Ready D, top producer Selwyn Shandel and media guru Taryn Cheadle were the judges on the day and had quite a job set out for them. It was a jam packed morning with the 23 acts blowing everyone away and myself and the KTV presenters also interviewing kids from the KTV Market Day with their various inventions - amazing!

In the end an all girl dance act - Eoan Crew - walked away with the group prize and multi-talented 14 year old Ezio Miller won the individual prize. They will now record three numbers each that will go to national vote on KTV for the next month and the winner will walk away with R20,000. Obviously holding thumbs that one of our Cape Town kids wins!!!

I believe...

I believe that there is a song for every memory and every moment, and that they thread a soundtrack through each of our lives. I believe that those songs on the whole have lyrics that mean something, and chances are we won't be singing about grinding our asses in a club and have it mean a hellava lot to us down the line. I believe that the world more than ever needs songs that speak to our heart as well as our groins : ) That we need music that will have relevance to life and not fade as fast as it takes to upgrade your iPhone.
